Frequently Asked Questions about the SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) Wallbox

Which wallbox is suitable for my PV system?

The SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) is ideal if you already use a SolaX inverter. Communication and PV excess charging then work seamlessly via the SolaX Cloud. However, it can also be operated independently as an OCPP-enabled wallbox with other inverters.

Do I need a Type B RCD for the SolaX Wallbox?

No. The SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) has an integrated DC residual current protection of 6 mA. A standard Type A RCD is sufficient for installation. This saves approximately 250 to 400 Euros in installation costs, depending on the electrician and region.

Is an 11 kW wallbox notifiable in Austria?

Yes. In Austria, wallboxes with a charging power of 11 kW must be reported to the responsible grid operator. The notification is usually made by the installing electrician. For most electric vehicles, 11 kW is entirely sufficient – the battery will be fully charged overnight.

Can I install the SolaX Wallbox outdoors?

Yes. With IP65 protection at the charging plug and IP54 at the socket, the SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) is completely weatherproof and approved for outdoor installation. The operating temperature range of -30 to +50 °C covers all climatic conditions in Austria – from alpine regions to the Pannonian summer.

What does OCPP support mean for the wallbox?

OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol) is an open standard for connecting charging stations to backend and billing systems. This allows you to integrate the wallbox into commercial solutions, employee charging, hotel systems, or public charging networks. The SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) supports OCPP and is therefore also suitable for professional use.

How does PV excess charging work?

In Green mode, the wallbox charges exclusively with the solar power that is currently in excess – meaning not consumed in the household and not stored in the battery. In Eco mode, it combines PV excess with grid electricity to ensure a minimum charging power. This maximizes the self-consumption of your photovoltaic system and charges the EV almost free of charge with solar power.

Which electric vehicles are compatible?

The SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) is compatible with all electric vehicles that have a Type 2 connection – which is practically all EVs sold in Europe. This includes Tesla Model 3/Y/S/X, VW ID.3/ID.4/ID.7, BMW i4/iX, Audi e-tron/Q4, Mercedes EQA/EQB/EQC/EQE/EQS, Hyundai Ioniq, Kia EV6, Skoda Enyaq, Renault Zoe, Porsche Taycan, and many more.

What subsidies are available for a wallbox in Austria?

For private wallboxes in Austria, there are state subsidies that vary by federal state. The federal subsidy for EV charging infrastructure is managed by KPC (Kommunalkredit Public Consulting). A prerequisite for funding is usually the use of 100% green electricity. Current information and assistance with the application process are available from SOLARVIC.

Can I operate multiple wallboxes in parallel?

Yes. The SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) supports dynamic load balancing – multiple wallboxes automatically share the available household connection capacity. Ideal for commercial businesses, employee parking lots, and multi-family homes. Through OCPP, any number of charging points can be integrated into a billing system.

Where can I buy the SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) Wallbox?

The SolaX X3-HAC (LCD) Wallbox is available from SOLARVIC – your specialist dealer for photovoltaics and building technology in Austria. Order online at solarvic.at and benefit from current daily prices, expert advice, fast shipping, and optional installation planning for your region.
