Glass-Glass

(83 products)

Glass-glass solar modules with tempered glass on both sides (instead of glass-foil) for longer lifespan, better weather resistance, and partial bifacial power generation. Top manufacturers include Trina Solar, AIKO, Jinko Solar, Canadian Solar, and JA Solar.

What is glass-glass?

With glass-glass modules, the solar cell is laminated between two tempered glass panes (typically 2.0 + 2.0 mm). The classic variant is glass-foil with only one glass pane and a plastic backsheet film. Glass-glass is significantly more robust but slightly heavier.

Advantages

Longer lifespan, higher weather resistance, less microcracking, better fire protection class, less degradation. Ideal for long-term installations over 25–30 years.

Bifacial variant

Some glass-glass modules are bifacial – they also generate electricity from the rear side through reflected light. Increased yield of 5–20% depending on mounting and substrate.

Frequently Asked Questions
Glass-glass or glass-foil – which is better?

Glass-glass: longer lifespan, more robust against weather and microcracks, often bifacial. Glass-foil: lighter, often cheaper. For long-term installations, we recommend glass-glass.

How much extra yield from bifacial modules?

5–20% depending on mounting, substrate (lighter substrate = more), and row spacing. Often more on flat roofs than on pitched roofs.

Are glass-glass modules heavier?

Yes, about 2–3 kg more than glass-foil modules of the same size. Consider this when designing the substructure.

Lifespan warranty?

Glass-glass modules often offer 30 years performance warranty and 15–25 years product warranty. See datasheet for exact values.

Which brands have glass-glass?

Trina Solar (Vertex S+), AIKO (Neostar), Jinko (Tiger Neo HL4M-DV), Canadian Solar (TOPHiKu6), JA Solar (JAM54D40 LB).
