Hybrid vs. String Inverters

Hybrid inverters have an integrated battery storage connection – ideal for PV+storage systems. String inverters are pure PV inverters without storage functionality. For new installations, hybrid is usually recommended today.

1-phase or 3-phase?

1-phase up to approx. 5 kW (smaller residential systems). 3-phase from 5 kW (standard for residential today).

Hybrid now or retrofit storage later?

Install a hybrid inverter now, storage can be added later. A pure string inverter makes storage retrofitting more expensive.

Inverter size?

Rule of thumb: Inverter power = approx. 80–100% of peak PV power. For 8 kWp PV, a 7–8 kW inverter.

Warranty?

Fronius: 5+5 years, Goodwe: 5–10 years, Solax: 10 years, Huawei: 10 years. Extensions often possible.
