Frequently Asked Questions
What does N-Type TOPCon mean for this solar module?
TOPCon (Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact) is a modern N-Type cell technology. A thin oxide layer on the back of the cell reduces recombination losses, allowing for higher efficiencies and less degradation than with classic P-Type cells. The HSM-ND66-GR630 thus achieves 23.3% module efficiency at 630 Wp.
What are the benefits of bifacial glass-glass construction?
In a glass-glass module, the cells are embedded between two glass panes instead of between glass and a backsheet. This protects against moisture and mechanical stress and extends the lifespan. Bifacial means that the rear side also absorbs light – reflected radiation from the ground provides additional yield depending on the installation.
How much electricity does the module generate per year in Austria?
A 630 Wp module delivers approximately 600–690 kWh per year under Austrian conditions (around 950–1,100 kWh per kWp). At an electricity price of 25 ct/kWh, this corresponds to approximately €150–€173 in annual savings – bifacial rear-side yields can further increase this value depending on the installation.
How many modules do I need for my home?
For an annual consumption of 4,500–5,500 kWh, a system of approximately 5–7 kWp is sensible. With 630 Wp per module, this means about 8 to 11 modules. The exact number depends on roof orientation, tilt, and the desired self-consumption rate.
Is the module suitable for alpine locations?
The glass-glass construction and the sturdy aluminum frame make the module robust against high snow and wind loads, as well as hail. For specific load values and temperature limits, please refer to the manufacturer's datasheet and adjust the design to your location.
Who is TCL Solar?
TCL Solar is the photovoltaic arm of an internationally active electronics group and produces solar modules based on modern N-Type cell technologies. The portfolio includes standard and glass-glass modules for rooftop, ground-mounted, and commercial systems.
