What does "E-AlMgSi" or AlMg 3 mean?
E-AlMgSi is an aluminum-magnesium-silicon alloy with good electrical conductivity and weather resistance. AlMg 3 is the specific alloy designation with approx. 3% magnesium content — soft, flexible and corrosion-resistant, ideal for outdoor applications.
How does ordering with custom cutting work?
Simply order the required number of meters (minimum 10). We cut the wire to the desired length in one piece and ship it coiled. Example: For 25 m, order "25" in the shopping cart.
What is lightning protection wire used for?
As a down conductor in open lightning protection systems — connects the air terminal rod/line on the roof with the earthing system. Classic applications: PV systems, residential buildings, commercial properties, stables. Not for installation in plaster, mortar, concrete or soil.
Which standards must the wire meet?
For lightning protection systems in Austria and Germany, the standards DIN EN 62561-2 (requirements for components), VDE 0185-305 / IEC 62305 (overall lightning protection standard) and DIN 48801 (semi-hard version) are relevant. This wire meets all three.
What does "soft" mean for aluminum wire?
Soft aluminum is not hardened and can be bent by hand and guided around corners. This makes installation much easier compared to semi-hard or hard versions — no special tools are required.
