Overload and short circuit in one or more branches are reliably detected. The electronics allow for brief current peaks, e.g., due to high inrush current, but de-energize branches with longer overloads. This is ensured even with high-resistance lines and creeping short circuits. The intact branches continue to be supplied with 24 V absolutely without interruption or feedback, thus minimizing plant downtimes. The faulty branch is signaled via LEDs on the device and via a collective signaling contact.
