Frequently Asked Questions
What does the DACH version mean?
The device, control system, and documentation are designed for the German-speaking region: menu navigation and documentation in German, mains connection 230 V / 50 Hz. This means the heat pump can be used equally in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Subsidies and registration requirements differ per country – your local installer will clarify this.
Why R290 and not R32 or R410A?
R290 is propane, a natural refrigerant with a global warming potential of 0.02 instead of several hundred. It is not subject to the shortage of fluorinated refrigerants and also achieves higher flow temperatures – here up to 75 °C.
Is the 3 kW size suitable for my house?
The VWL 35/8.1 delivers 4.26 kW at an outdoor temperature of -7 °C and a flow temperature of 35 °C. This is suitable for well-insulated new buildings or smaller renovated buildings with a heating load of around 4 to 6 kW. The exact design requires a heating load calculation according to EN 12831.
Can I continue to use old radiators with this?
Yes. With a flow temperature of up to 75 °C, the aroTHERM plus reaches temperatures that can also serve older radiators. However, efficiency is only achieved with a low flow temperature – at 55 °C, the efficiency is 143%, at 35 °C it is 196%.
How loud is the heat pump in operation?
52.7 dB(A) sound power maximum, in silent mode at A7/W35 only 45.0 dB(A). In night mode, it is 27.5 dB(A) at 3 m distance – quieter than a quiet living room.
What else do I need in addition to the outdoor unit?
The aroTHERM plus is a monoblock, the complete refrigeration circuit is located outside. For a complete system, depending on the concept, a hydraulic station or a uniTOWER, a hot water cylinder, and the system control are added. We can put together a suitable package on request.
